Edward Snowden revealed new details of the illegal activities of the U.S. intelligence. The former CIA employee told the Hong Kong newspaper South China Morning that the CIA read a huge amount of SMS of the Chinese. Snowden claimed that U.S. intelligence hacked the Chinese mobile operators’ databases: “The NSA does all kinds of things like hack Chinese cell phone companies to steal all of your SMS data.”
Former CIA official also claimed that in 2009 the U.S. intelligence hacked the computers of the Hong Kong-based company Pacnet - the largest regional fibre optic cable network operator. Snowden also said that the US on a regular basis has been attacking the servers at Tsinghua University, one of country’s biggest research institutions.
In response to Snowden’s statements, China called USA the main villains in cyber-espionage.
Currently Snowden flew from Hong Kong to Moscow. Chinese authorities claimed that he left the country “voluntarily and legally”.
