French ISPs have begun implementing a program that aims to fight against violators of the anti-piracy law, which continue to download content from torrents.
Thus, according to the new formula, after several warnings the user is disconnected from the Internet. Despite the fact that the law was passed in 2010, since then millions users were sent automatic warnings the actual disconnection began only in June 2013.
The District Court Department of Seine-Saint-Denis was the first one to issue a verdict against the person who downloaded unlicensed content via torrents, despite having received a warning. In late May, the user has been sentenced to 15 days without internet and a fine of 600 euros.
Now, the Internet provider must disconnect the violators from the internet for 15 days, but the provider is obliged to guarantee them access to email, instant messaging, and VoIP.
