The operating system Windows 8.1 will support integrated fingerprint scanner. In earlier versions of OS users also could work with scanners but Microsoft had to purchase the software from the third party. Windows 8.1 will recognize fingerprints without any additional software.
Users will be able to link their Microsoft account to their fingerprints that will allow logging on the system, confirming the purchase of programs or logging on applications after touching the scanner with a finger. The same method can be used to protect folders.
Microsoft said that the fingerprint scanner support became possible due to close cooperation with several manufacturers of these devices.
A preliminary version of Windows 8.1 will be released on June 26 during the BUILD 2013 conference. The final version will appear at the end of the year.
