Google rewarded researcher Ralf-Philipp Weinmann with $ 31,336 for detecting four dangerous vulnerabilities in Chrome OS.
Flaws were found in the O3D plug-in – a special plug-in that creates 3D-graphics in applications running in the browser window or in an XML User Interface (XUL) desktop application.
Google spokesman Ben Henry stated an update for Chrome 26 will be released within several days.
“We’re pleased to reward Ralf-Philipp Weinmann $31,336 under the Chromium Vulnerability Rewards Program for a chain of three bugs, including demo exploit code and very detailed write-up”, Henry stated.
Google pays $500 for eligible bugs in Chrome Vulnerability Rewards Program. But usually the company pays not less than $1 000. Still sometimes the researchers work is assessed in millions of dollars.
