Iranian citizens can again use Gmail services. The blockage of Gmail in Iran was caused by the publication of the provocative video “Innocence of Muslims” on YouTube.
Currently the email service is available as users can no longer switch from Gmail to YouTube. Technical services blocked such a function.
“The council on Internet filtering communicated its order to the Telecommunications Ministry regarding the lifting of the ban on the Gmail service,” Mohammad Reza Aghamiri, a member of the governmental Internet watchdog committee, told.
The film “Innocence of Muslims” became a cause of negative reaction of Islamic people around the world. In order to prevent further protests many governments have blocked the access to YouTube for their citizens.
