New Zealand court ordered U.S. authorities to provide evidence against the founder of the file sharing service Megaupload Kim Dotcom, who is accused of internet piracy, copyright infringement and money laundering.
“Without disclosure [Kim Dotcom and associates] will be significantly constrained in [their] ability to participate in the hearing, and the requesting state will have a significant advantage in terms of access to information,” the ruling reads.
The access to Megaupload site has been blocked on charges of providing the users with ability to download large amounts of counterfeit multimedia materials. Kim Dotcom and three other people were arrested in New Zealand, January 20, 2012, after police raided their houses. Now U.S. authorities demand Dotcom’s extradition. Initially, the hearing on this issue was scheduled for August 2012, but later it was moved to March 2013.
