Vulnerable website of a bank is always a nasty thing that may lead to mayhem and financial losses. Security researchers Sony and Flexxpoint have disclosed information about vulnerabilities in 14 different websites that belong to financial organization.
As a general rule cross site scripting vulnerabilities are not critically dangerous but in the case with banks cyber crooks could leverage them with a slight bit of social engineering and leak confidential information from the victims.
Here is the list of web-sites that contain XSS vulnerabilities:

http://www.eximb.com
http://procreditbank.bg

http://www.raiffeisen.ch
http://www.uwcfs.com

https://secure.moneypolo.cz
http://www.bcb.gob.bo
This list contains websites of high ranked banks like the Czech branch of Raiffeisen, Bulgarian branch of ProCredit Bank, Sberbank of Russian Federation etc.
Using an XSS of one of the above websites cyber crooks could trick a user into entering his account data and even one time password. In this way the attacker would gain complete control over victim’s funds.
“Let’s toss a couple of words about security. We would like to point out that there is no reason for panic. This is not a perfect world and we can’t be perfectly secured. But we can and we must aspire it. What can we suggest banks and not only them? Certainly, pay attention to upgrading qualification and discipline of the IT personnel, invest not only into marketing research but also directly into pentests, organize contests among pentesters like companies such as Google and Facebook or have your own pentesters, conduct secret social engineer audit among the company staff”, said the researchers.
