According to Interpol, 25 members of hactivists group Anonymous have been arrested by police in Latin America and Europe. The arrests were made in Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Spain.
The police conducted searches of 40 locations in 15 cities, as a result, 250 items of computer equipment and cellphones were seized.
The arrested hackers, whose age range between 17 and 40, are suspected in attacks on the websites of Colombian Ministry of Defence and the presidency and Chile's national library.
According to Spain authorities four members of group were arrested in Spain, two of them were released on bail. Another one was a coordinator of Anonymous’ operations in Spain and Latin America.
After arrests, hackers targeted the website of Interpol as the protest against the hackers’ arrest.
As a result of hackers’ attack, the site was briefly unavailable on February 28th. Now its back online.
