Prison Computer System Hacked by the Imprisoned

Prison Computer System Hacked by the Imprisoned

According to Daily Mail, hacker Nicholas Webber (21), sentenced to five years in prison for creating a website to hijack credit cards’ data, is suspected of hacking the computer system of his penitentiary. The attack was committed after the criminal was allowed to use the computer classroom of the prison.

The journal said the prison management suspect computer class teacher Michael Fox of assisting the hacker. However, Fox says he had no idea what Webber was doing. Furthermore, he was not aware of the reason he was sentenced, when providing him with the access to computers.

Nicholas Webber was arrested in 2011 on suspicion of illegal usage of confidential data of Internet users. During the investigation, police found out that the hacker created a website, called GhostMarket, through which he could spread viruses and hijack data of the victims’ bank accounts and credit cards. Webber was arrested when trying to use hijacked data to pay for a number of stuff, ranging from iPad to booking rooms in luxury hotels.

According to the prosecution, the cybercriminal was 17 when he created an online forum for hackers for the first time. Posts on the forum explained how to make 15 million pounds by stealing the money from private individuals and companies.
