Popular in Netherlands National payment system DigiD became a victim of a large-scale DDoS-attack. As a result of the attack, 10 million users couldn’t use their official online signature to pay bills and taxes.
The interior ministry said in a statement: “The national DigiD system is no longer accessible since Tuesday evening because of a DDoS attack”. However, the authorities have assured citizens that their data were not compromised, as the attackers didn’t manage to hack the DigiD system.
The Dutch police's cybercrime is investigating the incident.
