FireEye experts reported two 0-day vulnerabilities discovered in Adobe Reader.
According to the FireEye experts, vulnerabilities CVE-2013-0640 and CVE-2013-0641 are present in Adobe Reader and Acrobat 11.0.01, 10.1.5, 9.5.3 and other earlier versions for Macintosh and Windows. They allow attackers to compromise users’ systems.
The malicious PDF-files were delivered via emails and contained payload used to compromise vulnerable systems.
Adobe security experts claim that they still need time to release a fix. Until that time Adobe Reader and Acrobat 11 users are advised to enable the ‘Protected View’ option. Those, who use other versions, should use another PDF viewers.
The researchers in FireEye published additional information on the analysis of vulnerabilities. According to it, malicious PDF contains highly muddled JavaScript that can customize attack relying on the information about the version of the Reader the users are working with.
