NATO: Killing hackers is justified

NATO: Killing hackers is justified

NATO security experts decided that it is high time to take control over cyberspace. That was the reason of creating a list of suggestions that will regulate or even prevent some conflicts.

According to NATO representatives, members of cyberwars usually commit tit-for-tat attacks. They also stated that such a behavior is against civilized war actions.

The document called Tallinn Manual on the International Law Applicable to Cyber Warfare was written by 20 security experts in conjunction with the International Committee of the Red Cross and the US Cyber Command. It analyzes certain rules of how the cyberwar should be conducted.

Furthermore, the document’s authors claim that using traditional weapons against hackers is justified when the cyberattack causes civilian casualties or severe damage of some property.

The document also suggests regarding civilian hacktivists as being legitimate targets during war.

NATO experts compiled a list of objects, attacking which will be illegal even during war. These include hospitals and nuclear power plants.
