61-year-old hacker convicted in corporate hacking case

Texas resident, 61, Michael Musacchio was convicted in breaking into the computer systems of his former employer. The Federal Court has found Michael Musacchio guilty of conspiracy to obtain unauthorized access to a protected computer.

According to data submitted to the court, between 2004 and 2006 Musacchio served as a president of Exel firm. In 2004 Michael quitted his job and organized a rival company Total Transportation Services. Two employees from Exel Joseph Roy Brown and John Michael Kelly also joined Musacchio’s company.

Over the next two years Musacchio and his two associates gained unauthorized access to Exels servers for the purpose of corporate espionage. Cracking the Exels e-mail accounts, the attackers were able to obtain confidential business information and use it for their benefit.

Brown, Kelly and Musacchio are now awaiting sentencing.
