US start unprecedented counter-attack on Chinese hackers

US start unprecedented counter-attack on Chinese hackers

The U.S. government is going to launch unprecedented counter-attack on Chinese hackers accused of industrial espionage and theft of confidential data, including state secrets. After the attacks the government will publish the suspects’ names and bring lawsuits and fines.

It should be noted that such a decision was made after the publication of the Mandiants report about the massive hacking attack against the United States, sponsored by the Chinese government. Mandiant discovered a unit of the Chinese Army based in Shanghai and claimed that it has stolen hundreds of terrabytes of information from 140 US firms.

At the same time, China denies any involvement in the security breaches. The Ministry of Defense of China stated that Mandiants report lacks “technical evidence”, and the discovery of Chinese IP-addresses proves nothing.

Beijing is waging a massive trade war on us all, and we should band together to pressure them to stop. Combined, the United States and our allies in Europe and Asia have significant diplomatic and economic leverage over China, and we should use this to our advantage to put an end to this scourge, said U.S. Senator Mike Rogers.
