Siemens May Have Helped to Create Stuxnet Malware

German engineering company Siemens is accused by an Iranian politician leader Brigadier General Gholam Reza Jalali of helping the US and Israel developers to build the notorious Stuxnet computer worm that sabotaged the nuclear facilities’ industrial process. As it was reported previously, the worm hit software that supervised gas-centrifuge motors inside Iranian nuclear plants.

General Jalali came on IRNA, the official news channel of Iran. He claimed that Siemens should be called on to tell people what help they provided the team of programmers who built the extremely refined malware.

"Siemens should explain why and how it provided the enemies with the information about the codes of the SCADA software and prepared the ground for a cyber attack against us.…It was a hostile action which could have inflicted serious damage on the country if it had not been dealt with in a timely manner", Jalali told IRNA.

He went on to repeat claims that had been made by Ahmadinejad. Jalali reminded that Stuxnet did not have much effect on Iran`s nuclear-enrichment program due to the quick capture of the worm after it had infected SCADA systems.
