Microsoft was pwned by unknown hackers

Microsoft was pwned by unknown hackers

Microsoft has informed that it recently became a victim of a hacker attack, similar to those faced by Facebook and Apple.

"During our investigation, we found a small number of computers, including some in our Mac business unit, that were infected by malicious software using techniques similar to those documented by other organizations," the company stated on its Security Response Center website on Friday.

At this moment there is no evidence that any user information was compromised.

Microsoft is not the first company that has become a victim of the unknown hackers over the past few weeks. Earlier Facebook, Apple, Twitter, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal recently reported about the breach.

Attacks on Facebook and Apple were possible through exploitation of vulnerabilities in the Oracle’s Java platform. Microsoft claimed that the attack on their systems was performed in the same way.

It is worth noting that Apple, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal named China as the source of attacks. Twitter said nothing about the origin of the attacks but urges its 250 thousand users to change their passwords. China in its turn denies all accusations.
